Memories - Metelkova, Ljubljana, Slovenie
For those who were wondering, behind this weird name Ljubljana, hides the capital city of Slovenia,
We left by car from Italia, where I lived at that time, to normally go to Bosnia including Ljubljana and Zagreb. A path disseminated with pitfalls, our journey stopped in Zagreb, you will understand the reason why in the dedicated memories. Anyway, here we are, helter skelter, during All Saints holiday and after coming upon an article entitled « 5 advices to make your trip in Slovenia a success » the day before leaving. The first one : « Do not leave in November »… ok so we were off for a good start as it was apparently the month of rain. Indeed, it didn´t mess up.
Well, we finally arrived in Ljubljana, which has a population of 280 000, that is to say barely half of the population within Lyon itself… Let’s just say it doesn’t take long to see the main sites. We ate well though, we drank well, visited a bit and then went to Metelkova, an alternative area similar to Berlin I had heard about, where we could drink and hang out in underground clubs taking advantage of graffitis and weird art installations. We said let’s go !
We arrived there, in a kind of former residence with a children’s playground right in the middle, not so large but 2 or 3 big buildings at the entrance and others further. We saw some people standing in front of something which looked like a bar, we came closer, we went inside, took a pint of Lasko (a local beer) et we started to laugh.
We were smoking a fag outside when suddenly a guy arrived zigzagging on a bike… He drew our attention. As he were approaching, we realized that coupled with the fact he was totally drunk, he was bare-footed in November, everything’s normal.
Anyway, the party went on and we started to talk from pillar to post and to go around. We didn’t went to the clubs according to the turn of events but maybe that was no bad thing in the end… The rest in pictures, black and white only.
After having seen the bare-footed guy on his bike and this super weird thing, we thought there probably was a kind of « cult of barefoot » in Slovenia…
Ok, that’s for sure, there is something with foot here !
The decor of the bar is all in all very breezy.
Our much talked about rider a few hours after. An awesome guy ! … No but after some chat attempts, our Eddy Merckx was obviously keeping mum, only some grunts from the bottom of his beard… I gave it up and just told him « I take a picture, does it bother you ? » He didn’t say nothing.
On the right, someone we met there, very cheerful but you know the kind of laugh which does not make you laugh a lot… On the left, Julien, my bud, he was getting on well with the guys across the street… (We note his eye, full of love, behind his friendly wave)
Rakija shots (local eau de vie)… One of my last memories in the bar before leaving with unknown people in the dark night… Where we finally got lost so we had to go back to the hostel by foot. It was very far and rainy and cold…
Despite everything, that was cool Ljubljana !
