The Artist: Khwezi Strydom
The Story: Travelling to the USA and South Africa contributed to Khwezi Strydom’s sense of individuality, without allowing any one place to define him. A Renaissance man, with all the multiplicity implied therein, Strydom challenges everything and reflects this idea in his work. The figures he creates are often based on his own self-portrait; here, it is given new life in this female profile, which he describes as the personification of the Tree of Life.
